Mighty Authority.

Mighty Authority.

In the wake of the Manchester bombing Diana, assured us in her address how, instead of splitting the people apart it had brought the people together and had indeed, brought out the best in humanity instead of the worst. Dianna’s initial question to the people ‘is there a future for human beings?’ And of course, when you learn how kind, generous and caring the majority of people are, one cannot help but feel that there is a great future for the human race. One person’s evil actions cannot override the outpouring of good that gushes when there is great need. And rather than hatred spreading, love and care comes forth like a tidal-wave.

At this time, when we hear again of the Lord Ascending into heaven many of us can feel quite desolate. It can make us feel alone and very vulnerable. But there is no need of course as Philip in his sermon at evening prayer reminded us of God’s almighty power over everything, how he sent his only Son to preach love and trust giving everyone who believed in Him hope! God took Jesus up and sat him at his right hand, and gave him great power and mighty authority – Putting everything under His feet, not to one side or behind him but putting Him who was taken up authority and supremacy over all things. However, Jesus promised to send a mediator to us and in these few quiet days we must keep our hopes alive until we receive the blessing and protection of the Holy Spirit…
