He is Risen indeed. Alleluia!

He is Risen indeed. Alleluia!

What an amazing service we had this Easter Morning – The church was packed to capacity for a family Eucharist with, not only the Renewal of Baptismal Vows, but for the Baptism of little Sebastian Palmer too, a special event which made the congregation’s renewal of baptismal vows all the more meaningful. It was wonderful to welcome baby Sebastian’s Parents, God parents his family and friends to witness this happy and joyful occasion.

The service of light began in darkness as all the church lights were turned off, until Revd Julie had carried the beautiful Easter Candle down to the front of church where it was lit along with all the candles that had been handed out to the congregation, by which time the whole church became ablaze with light. For it’s the day when we celebrate Jesus Christ passing out of the darkness into light, from death to life.

In her address, Revd Carolyn gathered a few children together and explained how a baby chick breaks out of an egg, in a similar way to how Jesus broke free of the tomb, she said to remember that when you gently break your Easter egg open today you will find it just as empty as the tomb appeared to be on that first Easter Day…

At the Baptism of baby Sebastian, as the Parents and God parents made their vows, so did we all follow suit by renewing our own Baptismal Vows also. Once baby had been Baptised with the Holy Water, so the Clergy seemed to take great pleasure in walking around the church sprinkling the Holy Water on as many people in the congregation as possible, including the choir!

The service continued with a very joyful Eucharist conducted by Revd Anne and the service ended with us all singing that awe-inspiring hymn ‘Thine be the Glory’.

Alleluia, Christ is Risen – He is Risen indeed – Alleluia…
