On Sunday the 10th June we were treated to an excellent Concert featuring Jessica Edom-Carey (Soprano) and Reunion Quartet (Barbershop).

There were around 60 people present and the concert raised £421.78 Although Barbershop and Opera don’t normally go together, it worked especially well because of both Jessica and Martin, the lead singer in the quartet’s links to St Mary’s church - both attended as children and they said that they wanted to support the church.

Jessica is a 22year old soprano from Essex who has appeared at many London venues including St Paul’s Cathedral, The Barbican, The Royal Festival Hall, The Albert Hall and Westminster Cathedral. The Barbershop quartet started singing together 25years ago and despite them going their separate ways they always kept in touch. In 2008 they got together for a one-off performance for Barnardos at the Royal Festival Hall. They enjoyed the experience so much that they decided to stay together and perform whenever they can… Wonderful.

The concerts are organised by Jill Parkin, in aid of the ‘Organ Restoration Fund’ the tickets cost £5.00 each and there is a raffle held. This concert raised £421.78 so what better way could you help save our beautiful Organ. Watch out for future Concerts…
