The carol service was so enjoyable.

The carol service was so enjoyable.

Thursday 12th December was a day to remember – It was the date of the General Election, it tipped it down with rain all day, and it was the evening of the Ladies Group Christmas celebration… What a day! Despite the weather around 30 of us, including our clergy, joined together to kick off St Mary’s Church Christmas festivities. We all so love tradition and so it is with the Ladies Group and although a change in the set-programme had been thought about the thoughts quickly returned to the annual Christmas plan whereby we start our celebration with the customary Christmas readings and carol singing, we bring food to share and we hold a raffle with items donated by those attending. Brilliant. Jill Parkin accompanied our carol-singing on the piano and she was presented with a gift from Ladies group leader Sue Cole. Once the service ended, we made our way down to the food table to enjoy the lovely dishes that had been supplied. Refreshments were free, so we used our money to buy raffle tickets for the hampers that had been made up. The raffle raised around £80 which will be divided and donated to two of the charities that had given talks at the Ladies Group. So, we weren’t very happy with the rain, some of us may not have been very happy with the result of the General election but I can assure you that we were all delighted with the Ladies Group Christmas Celebration…
