The Heavenly Kingdom

At our morning Eucharist Service Revd Carolyn repeated the words of Luke 12:32 saying “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom”.

What a wonderful and comforting statement to hear and believe that our Father God is more than happy to gift to us his Kingdom. No matter what happens in our lives, God is always there for us… For his Kingdom isn’t beyond the vail, you can rest assured that it is right here with us now and even if we stray, he is always willing to take us back into his loving care. He loves us just the way we are. And if we honour our faith, we can so easily show others God’s Kingdom.

At Evening Prayer, we had beautifully read by Roger part of the 2nd letter of Paul to the Corinthians. A much lower key letter than that of the joyful 1st Letter, Paul and his faithful companions must have suffered much in the time between the two letters, and Revd Carolyn remarked on the problem that besets all of us, which is having to suffer pain, anguish, fear and bereavement.

Do we ever pose the question ‘What have I done to deserve this?’ Do we believe that God punishes us? No God does not punish us instead, when we are hurting and when we are at our lowest ebb, if we trust and believe, then we will be able to feel the love, comfort and security of God’s Heavenly Kingdom. Amen
