Harvest Family Fun

Such a fun afternoon.

Such a fun afternoon.

St Mary's Harvest Family Fun Afternoon held on the 19th, really lived up to its name, lots of children attended with one or more of their parents or carers and there was so much to do that it must have been very difficult for them to choose an activity. Along with painting, drawing, sticking and lots of other craft work they all went into the churchyard hunting for different types of leaves and foliage.

We had a really nice afternoon weather-wise, so the children and their carers’ were happy to be outside for a while plant-hunting and roaming around the churchyard. Once back inside, the children set to work choosing and creating some brilliant pieces of artwork, they were also encouraged to come by the kitchen to do some cooking. It wasn’t just the Queen of Hearts that made some tarts! Many of the children came to cut out pastry and fill their tarts with some tasty jam. They weren’t of course, allowed access to the oven so with names written on plates they left the hot-work to the grandmas… and came to collect their ‘Master-chef’ bakes after they had eaten their tea,

And my goodness, what a wonderful spread they were treated to, I am sure there must have been enough goodies there to feed the five thousand, and after a lot of fun and games during the busy afternoon the children were ready to devour much of the scrumptious looking food. Eventually, with their craft work under their arm, their jam tarts in hand and full tummies they made their way home.

Jo thanked everyone for all the work they had done to make the children’s family fun day such a success, this included all the setting up, clearing away and all the work done in-between. Revd Carolyn was there to start the proceedings and she was still there when most had gone home. Carolyn thanks Jo of course, for organising and over-seeing this very successful afternoon.
