Carols by Candlelight
Church News | Wednesday, 24 December 2014 |
This new service was held at 5pm and attracted even more people than was hoped. The service told the Nativity Story starting with the Visitation of the Magi and continued in-between all our favourite carols. During the singing of ‘Little Donkey’ a very ‘great with child’ Mary wended her way down toward the pulpit area where she took her place in the cold and dark stable. To save any embarrassment a curtain was held high while Mary ‘gave birth’. The curtain was eventually lowered to reveal a beautiful, real baby Jesus who had miraculously appeared. Whilst baby slept peacefully in Mary’s arms the children were invited to come down and gather in the stable to sing ‘Away in a manger’ and to help light and warm the life of the new born baby with candles.
It was a truly beautiful service enjoyed I am sure, by all who attended. The baby Jesus played magnificently by baby Sidney was just perfect. A brilliant actor in the making! His mum and dad must have felt very proud…
