Carer's Have Hearts
Church News | Wednesday, 15 July 2015 |
At our last Carers Group meeting before breaking up for the summer holiday we were delighted to welcome back our crafty, artist Son. Last time she came along it was all painting and origami, this time it was cutting and sewing. I was a little late joining the group and found them all busy with their chosen tasks except for one of our regular members who told me that she wasn’t joining in as she wasn’t very artistic and couldn’t do anything very much. It seemed a shame that she and I should just sit chatting when she looked a bit left-out and my fingers were itching to get cracking. However, summing up the situation Son came over and asked the lady if she would kindly cut out some heart-shapes for her using a pattern and before long we had both moved over to the table where all the work was going on.
By the time the session was over, the reluctant member was proud to show what she had achieved (with a little bit of gentle persuasion of course) and continued to smile while the others showed off their handy-work too. All thanks must go to Diana who dedicatedly organises the carers group and to Son, Diana’s friend who gives of her time and artistic knowledge to help take the carers minds off their daily caring even if it’s only for a few hours. Thank you.
