Our shoe boxes ready to go!

Our shoe boxes ready to go!

We had a brilliant Family Service this morning – so packed with events I hardly know where to begin! It all started off as normal, except for being delighted to see the cubs join us for the service. Then following the Gospel reading of the ‘Raising of Lazarus’ we didn’t expect to see one of the cubs turned into a ‘mummy’, before bursting forth alive and well after shouts from the congregation to – Come out!

Then we had a double baptism that of Tony and his daughter Kaitlin and it was just wonderful to see them baptised surrounded by their family and friends. After welcoming the newly baptised into the family of the church we found ourselves back behind bars as the puppets performed to a revised version of an old Beatles song called- Help! Of course Jesus did help and turned a bad boy’s life around once he followed the cross.

Then of course we had the amazing presentation of decorated shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Box after box was taken up to the altar many brought by the cubs – such generosity is very moving and to top it all our own Vera had knitted 200 baby hats to add to the collection. Revd Carolyn blessed all the shoe boxes and they are now stacked and awaiting collection. Phew!
