John Glynn and Aquila in Concert
Church News | Sunday, 22 November 2015 |
We all enjoyed a lovely, relaxing evening on Saturday 21st Nov in the company of John Glynn and Aquila to listen to some of their haunting compositions which included psalms and songs of hope and trust. St Mary’s beautiful Caen stone reredos and carving depicting the Last Supper which was bathed in light presented a stunning backdrop for John and his fellow musicians as they played their way through many of his original melodies, including his most famous of all ‘I watch the sunrise’. The programme was set out in two parts with an interval in between during which people were able to get refreshments and could perhaps buy some of John’s CD’s or a Songbook.
The church was surprisingly full considering the weather had turned so cold yet it was that which made it feel so warm and comforting inside. No entrance fee was charged for the concert but visitors were able to buy a CD Album for £10 or a box set for £20 and there was a retiring collection made for St Mary’s Organ Restoration Fund, which we were delighted to hear raised around £350.
