This morning the Church was overflowing with people who came on a cold, damp morning to remember and pay tribute to all those men and women who gave up their lives for the protection of our country in Two World Wars. Young people who gave their lives so that the rest of could live in peace. We were honoured to have worship with us the devoted members of the Royal British Legion, The Scouts, Youth Groups, and the Blue Knights… Revd Carolyn, who is the Chaplain to the Royal British Legion, Broomfield Branch welcomed everyone to the service and Revd Dawn, Curate to St Mary’s Church gave a moving address. We stood as the names of the fallen of two world wars were read out. The Exhortation was given, followed by The Last Post, the Two Minutes Silence, and Reveille. Wreaths were then laid below the memorial window. Following the service most people made their way through the Churchyard to the War Graves where a short service of Remembrance was held and wreaths laid… A beautiful morning of Remembrance by those who have never forgotten what others have given. ‘We Will Remember Them’ Amen.
