Cathedral MU Visit.
Church News | Monday, 11 July 2016 |
It was wonderful to see about 22MU members and visitors looking around St Mary with St Leonard’s Church here in Broomfield on Thursday 7th July. The Cathedral group organises a visit to a local church once a year and this year it was the turn of St Mary’s. Reverend Carolyn made them very welcome and introduced them to Doris Baker who is a diocesan member and our new Curate, Revd Julie Hardy who was ordained Deacon just a couple of weeks ago. Carolyn took them around the church starting with the Round Bell Tower which contains our unique fresco painting, then onto our ancient font. The Cathedral MU group worked their way around the church hearing all about the history of its windows and altar and spent a while in the Lady Chapel. There was a display set up of MU memorabilia, dating back to when St Mary’s had a well established Mothers Union group, which was unfortunately disbanded some years ago now. Eventually, the group was pleased to be served with welcome refreshments and cakes before wending their way home. It was delightful to welcome the Cathedral MU group to our church, which was the second group to visit, in recent weeks.
