Christmas Family Fun Day

Father Christmas came to St Mary’s a little early this year to greet all the children and many of the grown-ups at the Christmas Family Fun Day. What a day we had! The weather was kind to us and St Mary’s church and St Leonard’s hall was packed over the two hours it was on.
The fun day kicked of with the puppets, a great favorite with the children, and then Rev Carolyn invited all the children to go and meet Father Christmas who came in with his elves to help give out gifts and have photos taken… Gradually the people wended their way into St Leonard’s hall, where there were refreshments and lots and lots of yummy cakes. However, before reaching the hall there was a grand raffle with lots of brilliant prizes and a table where the children could do craft work and colouring. Once in the hall, there were lots of tables with games, gifts to buy, books, guessing games, etc., you could even get your nails painted whatever colour you wanted.
After the raffle, we were treated to some carol singing and some songs with the guitar. I am sure it was way past four o’clock before the last person went, and before the workers had dried up their last cup and hovered up the last bits of Christmas paper and crumbs that had been dropped on the floor however, it had been a wonderful day full of happiness and laughter.
Rev Carolyn would like to thank all the people who gave up their time during the morning of the 15th to help set everything up, to all those who worked during the afternoon and to those who helped cleared up and tidy everything away. Carolyn would like to thank all the people who contributed in any way to the success of St Mary’s Christmas Family Fun Day.
Carolyn is delighted to say that the church made around £500:00, but above all the happiness, laughter and the fellowship that the day helped create was to her, invaluable.
