The Transfiguration of Jesus

He was transfigured.

He was transfigured.

This morning at the 10.30am Communion service Reverend Carolyn, paused the proceedings for a short while in order for us all to recognise the appointment of Churchwarden, Alun Powell as a governor at the Chelmsford Cathedral School. Carolyn identified it as an important calling to which we all promised to support him.

Today we celebrated the Transfiguration of Jesus, an extremely difficult phenomena for us, as ordinary human beings, to envisage. If the story of the glorification of Jesus was going to be difficult for us adults to understand, our thoughts had to be with those dedicated people who teach our children however, we were very impressed with the efforts of both Fun Faith leaders and children to come to terms with this difficult subject. Just before the final blessing Carolyn called the children and leaders forward and they showed us their unique explanation, it was to have a cut out card of Jesus with a light glowing behind. It was all so simple yet helped to make it memorable and so much easier for the children to visualise what Jesus’ glorification must have been like. I must admit that it helped me and hopefully, it helped some others too.
