Jesus wants us to follow Him...

Jesus wants us to follow Him...

Today we hear the wonderful story of how Jesus called his first disciples to follow him. So heavy was their catch and so amazed were they that they left their work of fishing behind to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. But we are all called in one way or another no matter who we are or what we do. Revd Carolyn assured us that God makes his request known to us and waits patiently for us to respond by saying ‘Here I am’. He needs us to use whatever skills we have to help others, exactly like the fishermen, who went on to use their fishing skills to catch people. Even when we are too old or too sick to work, as Christians we can still use our prayer-skills to help and support others.

At the Sunday Special afternoon Service, the children heard the story of Jesus telling the fishermen where to catch fish and then asking them to follow him. No matter who we are said Revd Julie, we are all called, and we can all work together for others, the children (and some of the adults) then went off to make very colourful fish, hand-printed fish and fishing rods, etc… before sampling the sandwiches and yummy cakes provided.

Sing: ‘I will make you fishers of men if you follow me, if you follow me, if you follow me… I will make you fishers of men if you follow me!’
