At today’s 10.30am Service we enjoyed a family service joined by the couples who are to be married here at St Mary’s Church. Yesterday the couples spent from 10.00am-3.00pm at the Wedding Preparation Day which was held in Church and in the hall, complete of course, with lunch. This morning Service was all about love, for just as we love each other so God loves us, and we heard two of the most beautiful readings telling us all about love… The first reading was from 1 Corinthians 13 and the second reading was from the Gospel of John 15: 9-12. In a clever twist the reading from 1 Corinthians was displayed on the screen where the word Love was changed to God, just try it for yourself: 1 Corinthians 13: 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not God, I have become a sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not God, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not God, it profits me nothing… Good eh? Just like ‘Love and marriage, Love and marriage, go together like a horse and carriage’. Great Service.
