Thanks be to God
Church News | Sunday, 6 October 2019 |
Its always good to remember to thank God for all we have at harvest time. Revd Julie, said in her address that as far back as the 1800's people would gather together for a special service of thanksgiving once the harvest had been gathered in.
We were told today that the food gathered in at our service would be shared out among those who have very little. On a larger scale, Christian Aid works all the year round to help people who live in deprived areas, and we watched a short film of a very poor woman who used what little she had to work up a small business growing produce to bring up her son as best she could. Today we had the puppet group who enacted a very happy song called ‘The Harvest Samba’ which I am sure delighted everyone – So, be sure to support Christian Aid as it helps people like the woman in the film to step out of poverty.
