And he was transfigured before them.

And he was transfigured before them.

We had an remarkable gospel story and an amazing day to accompany it! Our Sunday services this week were filled with bright, shining light and love, just like the incredible story of the Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus.

Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white’.( Matthew 17: 2)

Diana gave a wonderful sermon by pointing out how special Jesus’ transfiguration was while the children made brilliant halos. The gospel, puppet-crew choir performed ‘This little light of mine’ with sparking lights and candles and the sun beamed through St Mary’s beautiful windows as we sang ‘Shine Jesus Shine’.

Evening prayer, although quieter and more formal, was just as uplifting as this morning’s service. The readings we had, delivered so beautifully and sincerely by Trudy and David held us captivated. Reverend Carolyn gave a very powerful sermon on our relationship with God and how he sometimes gives us glimpses of his glory – just wonderful! And the hymns included ‘Guide me, O though great Redeemer’, ‘Seek ye first’ concluding with ‘Jerusalem’ All amazing stuff…Sure to keep us going all week long.
