Sue is Moving On
Church News | Sunday, 15 June 2014 |
We had a brilliant 10.30am Sunday morning Eucharist Service during which we celebrated Sue Howlett’s ministry here at St Mary’s.
Sue gave her final sermon as a reader which prompted spontaneous applause from the congregation, as she drew her address to a close.
The church was filled with those who loved Sue for her caring, loving and bubbly character, she will be sorely missed by many however, it was time for her to move on to pastures new, after she has received her long-awaited and much looked forward to Ordination at Chelmsford Cathedral on Saturday 28th June.
The puppets performed a special farewell song for Sue and Revd Carolyn presented her with gifts and cards, including a beautiful, embroidered stole with which she will be ordained as a Deacon.
Her ministry in the community was highlighted during the service which included her work as a Reader - Edward Bear – The Carer’s Group – Fairtrade – Wedding Preparation – The Choir and Bible Study group, to name but a few, the service ended with the Edward Bear children singing the Children's Blessing.
Following the service there was a ‘Bring and Share lunch’ that was enjoyed by all those who attended.
I am sure we all wish Sue well and the very best of luck in her future work at Boreham. Sue, we love you and will miss you, but how wonderful that you have achieved your dream goal and that you have had the good fortune and the opportunity to hear and respond to such a high calling.
‘Here I am Lord, it is I Lord, I have heard you calling in the night; I will go Lord; If you lead me; I will hold your people in my heart.'
