On Saturday 11 November 2023 a blue plaque to Rosemary Rutherford was unveiled by the Mayor of Chelmsford, Councillor Linda Mascot.
The church was full for the occasion, including members of Rosemary’s family, among them her great-niece, Naomi Courtenay-Luck, who gave a talk. In addition, the guests heard from Kathy Rouse about Rosemary’s work as a nurse and war artist during the Second World War, a fitting tribute on Armistice Day to Rosemary and those who served with her.
The plaque is situated on the outside of St Leonard’s Hall overlooking the Rutherford family graves. The plaque was provided by Chelmsford City Council, and matches the others around the city commemorating nine women and twenty-nine men, distinguished in their various fields, who have helped shape Chelmsford’s history.
